  • CAWDEV: A Resilient Cooperative Model for Sustainable Agricultural Transformation

Before the creation of cawdev, we had brainstormed much on this very production system of traditional cooperatives and how it killed many cooperative societies. Imagine if cawdev had only one salaried worker, our finances would have finished. In addition to that, it’s impossible to assemble produce nation wide from the various production basins. Think about related logistics.
“If cawdev can engage in massive production…” How? Production basins supply their produce to a coordinated market under the cawdev brand instead.
The cawdev model is outstanding and drawing national and international attention.
That’s our uniqueness and strength and account for the reason why, enterprises that are ten times more investments than cawdev rush to join cawdev.
My wish as president is to mould more active and resilient production enterprises, cawdev is not desperate at all. We simply want to get all moving forward.
Introducing new products in the market has never been an easy ride, reason why even the African continent is yet to sought a way out.
Let me give three examples why we have to cherish the cawdev business model as a veritable breakthrough.
1) cawdev is the lone farmers organization represented in the sub regional block for Africa. Why?
2) cawdev is the lone farmers organization in Cameroon solicited by the government to propose a way forward for effective and efficient implementation of import substitution for wheat. Why?
3) Cameroon is a pilot country for WECAWHEAT working with cawdev. Why?
Recall that we registered cawdev as a cooperative because we wanted to work with ministry of agriculture directly. Our business model is a blend of cooperate and network marketing approaches.
CAWDEV is investing in its brand: real estate, microfinance, training, publication etc and coordinated from a secretariat all at the service of production enterprises or basins.
